Presidio

A beautiful park within easy walking distance.

The Presidio is a beautiful park that is easy biking distance from our house. There are many trails you can take, and we encourage you to explore on your own. Andy Goldsworthy is a great artist and there are two installations of his, The Spire and Wood Line. One possible bike ride to take (especially on Sundays!) is as follows:

  • Get down to Stanyan St to Arguello to the Arguello Gate entrance.
  • Turn right and walk along the perimeter of the Presidio. You will pass Julius Kahn Park and a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Then you will get to Lover’s Lane, a small path downhill.
  • As you walk down Lovers Lane, make sure to look into the woods on your right, as that is where you will see the Wood Line.
  • At the end of Lover’s Lane you will get to the Main Post. On Sunday’s from April to October they have “Off the Grid’s”, which is a diverse gathering of food trucks and a Farmer’s Market. It’s a great place, and a wonderful break to have a meal before you hike back. Here’s info about Sunday picnic specifically, and click here for more info about all the Off the Grid’s all over the city.
  • Then walk up along the Ecology Trail, which will take you to a scenic view.
  • Right near that scenic view is The Spire.
  • Also, on the way to or from the Presidio, make sure to check out Presidio Terrace, which is a street with lots of huge, beautiful houses!

There are many other great hikes in the Presidio.

Fondation Vasarely

I just found the site one day before the visit and it was really worth visiting! I enjoyed a lot the architecture and the art exhibition❣️ I liked the futuristic and minimalist style a lot. The art works in the groud floor are gigantic and it was fascinating to see the process of the creation as well.

Cézanne’s studio

Wow, what a wonderful place, such a nice experience. It’s like a journey through time, as if you were waiting for the artist to appear at any moment. You can visit the garden walking on Cezanne’s foot steps, so relaxing. And the studio looks so alive. I’m glad i was able to get there.
